Daily 5: Developing and Supporting Independent Learners

Learn how to structure literacy time so students work independently and productively while you deliver instruction in small groups and one-on-one. Appropriate for pre-K to 12th grade classrooms.

  • engage students with choice
  • give students adequate time to practice tasks that lead to literacy: Read to Self, Work on Writing, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Word Work
  • understand the foundational elements and brain research associated with the Daily 5
  • learn strategies to build stamina and independence with all students.
  • receive a three-month complimentary membership or extension to The Daily CAFE website.

Each weekly webinar is prerecorded and available for playback any time during the session. We recommend that participants have access to The Daily 5: Fostering Literacy in the Elementary Grades, Second edition, while participating in this seminar.

Cost and Curriculum

The fee is $149 per seminar. Use a credit card to register online for one, two, or all three.

Each seminar includes the following:

  • webinars posted weekly; view when it’s convenient for you as often as you like
  • variety of course materials, including recent classroom demonstration videos
  • instructor actively seeds and facilities discussion board dedicated to your particular seminar’s participants
  • three-month membership or extension of membership to The Daily CAFE website                 

 

Course work. Each week, participants receive access to an online folder containing videos, links to online resources, discussion questions, and a recorded webinar. Allison answers questions and leads discussions online throughout the course.

Discussion board. Participants receive sign-in credentials for an inclusive discussion board

Access. All discussions and materials, including the webinars, are available until four weeks after the seminar ends.

Contact hours and graduate credit. Each participant receives a certificate of attendance for 15 contact hours. Check our graduate credit page to determine eligibility and requirements.

Subscription to The Daily CAFE. A three-month complimentary membership or extension of membership to The Daily CAFE website. Access many course materials through your membership.

Registration Confirmation. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Registrants can also go to Ticket Leap to confirm registration (use your email address to log in).

Cancellation and Substitution Policy. If you are unable to attend, an alternate attendee is welcome. Please contact [email protected] to enroll your alternate.

Refunds. To keep administrative and total costs low for this seminar, we do not issue refunds.
